Ashnil Aruba Lodge has been built adjacent the Aruba Dam that straddles the Voi River and is located 326 km (203 mi) from Nairobi.

The water in the reservoir created by the dam is a magnet for wildlife and the lodge is ideally situated to offer superb views of the animals that visit to drink in this otherwise arid region.

The lodge is located at an altitude of 433 m (1,421 ft) and, being centrally located within Tsavo East, there are trails leading in all directions so the choice of game-drives is almost unlimited.

There are 40 en-suite rooms, each with a veranda overlooking the plains and/or the dam. 8 rooms have interconnecting doors making them ideal for families. There are 6 luxury tents available at a premium.

The lodge has an excellent restaurant offering buffet international cuisine.

Away from the restaurant is a very comfortable lounge and well-stocked bar. Also, there is a splendid timber viewing deck and large swimming pool, all with great views. All this is set in nicely landscaped gardens.

A resident naturalist is on hand to provide expert information and guided nature walks are available, some aimed specifically at bird watchers.

Local tribe members visit the lodge to provide a fascinating insight into the colourful culture and traditions of their lives, past and present.

The climate is generally hot and dry and breezes from the plains make for warm, comfortable temperatures.
