One of the newest lodges, Ashnil Samburu Camp is located in the Buffalo Springs Game Reserve, separated from Samburu National Reserve by the Ewaso Nyiru River.

It is 345 km (214 mi) north of Nairobi. Positioned with excellent views of the river are 24 spacious, top of the range, deluxe en-suite tents.

This is the perfect lodge from which to view large numbers of elephants using the river to drink, bathe and play. Huge troops of baboons patrol the river banks daily and, in the camp itself, vervet monkeys socialise in the trees.

You will see plenty of wildlife here without even leaving the camp. This much favoured camp is indeed set in a wonderful location.

The restaurant tables are set along the covered veranda so you can continue watching the activity of the wildlife at the riverside, whilst you enjoy the excellent cuisine.

A comfortable lounge and bar are close by and make the ideal place to relax in the tropical warmth of the Samburu evenings. The staff here provide an exceptional level of service; their friendliness and attentiveness is, in our opinion, the best you will find anywhere.

Around the swimming pool are sun-loungers and parasols, all in view of the river and the back- drop of the shrub-dotted hills beyond.

Guided bird-walks are available with the resident naturalist. Evening entertainment includes performances by the members of the local Samburu tribe whose music and dancing will fascinate you. During the night you may well hear the sound of hippopotami as they leave the river to feed.

The climate in Samburu is generally very warm and dry and night temperatures remain higher here than some other parks and reserves.
